Lincoln Summer Soccer – Training and Tryouts

June and July Summer Academy:
We will have informal sessions at Lincoln High School 3 times per week, one more than years previous. The goal of the sessions is to prepare players for the upcoming fall soccer season by exposing them to regular opportunities to work on individual fitness, technical skills, and small- and large-sided tactical situations.  The sessions will be staffed by Lincoln High School Boys’ Soccer coaches. This is open to all players in the program, and you only need to come to the sessions you can make.  As we have done in the past, we will ask for a one-time fee of $40.  So, if you come one time or every time, or any amount in between, the total cost is $40.  This money goes into the program and covers assistant coaches’ salaries.  This is free to Lincoln Soccer Alumni. Checks (made out to Billy Merck) and cash only.
There are two changes this year. (1) We will be going 3 times a week (futsal on Tuesday, Soccer on Thursday, fitness on Friday); (2) We will be asking for $40. If a player cannot make it because of financial reasons, contact me. We will make sure he plays.       

Bring: Water, soccer equipment including proper clothing and a ball with your  name on it.
Location: All sessions at Lincoln High School
Dates and Times:
Futsal in Lincoln Gym (Wear non-cleated, non-marking shoes):
            Tuesdays June 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, and 27. 3-4:30  note change
Soccer on Walsh Field (Turf):
Thursdays June 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. 3:00 -4:30
Fitness (Meet at Walsh Field in running shoes): June 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. 10-11:30 AM. 

Pre-season Fitness Camp:
August 9-12.  3:30-5. Cost: $90. ($50 for additional siblings in families with 2 or more players).
This is free to Lincoln Soccer Alumni.  The purpose of the pre-season fitness camp is to prepare players for the physical demands of the try-outs and the soccer season.  This week gives players a good foundation of physical fitness and contributes to decreasing injuries that could occur in try-outs and the season. 

Also, during this week, as part of the Pre-Season Fitness Camp, we have added college seminars for players of each class. These will run from 5:15-6:15 Mon, Tues, and Thurs. Monday is for Frosh and Soph; Tuesday is for JR and SR. Thursday is for all, and we will have a speaker. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend any session. The goal is to start developing a long-term field vision for the younger grades and a practical vision for the older grades. These will take place at Lincoln. Players should bring pens.

Please remember to bring water to every session.

Try Outs:
August 16-20.  (Most likely, teams will be made by the 18th or 19th. All teams—JV2, JV, and Varsity—will have team practices on the 20th.) The times are not set yet because we are still working on field issues and schedules.  But, players must be available for try-outs.  To prepare for this, players need to look into all clearance issues (physicals, update forms, participation fees, blue cards, etc.).  I will send out more complete information on this in the next month, but I wanted you to have the dates now.  As usual, there is no guarantee that players missing any or all of try-outs will have a spot in the program, so please make plans accordingly.
